How Can You Optimize Your Zenless Zone Zero Character’s Stats?

If you wanna get your character’s stats on point in Zenless Zone Zero, don’t stress! Just follow these simple tips: First, focus on leveling up the right skills that match your playstyle. Don’t forget to equip the best gear that boosts those stats. Lastly, mix and match your team for killer combos!

Also, keep an eye on your character’s abilities. Don’t hesitate to switch things up if you’re not vibing with your current setup. Experimenting is key! Remember, the goal is to make your character a total powerhouse in combat.

1. Prioritize Stat Scaling for Role-Specific Builds

Each character has a set of primary stats that contribute to their strength. Focus on upgrading stats that align with their role:

  • DPS (Damage Dealers): Focus on Attack Power (ATK), Critical Hit Rate (CRIT), and Critical Damage (CRIT DMG).
  • Tank/Defense Characters: Prioritize Defense (DEF), HP (Health), and Damage Mitigation stats to increase survivability.
  • Support Characters: Boost Energy Regeneration, Healing Power, and Buff/Debuff Effectiveness to provide better team utility.

2. Use Appropriate W-Engines and Drive Discs

  • Weapons (W-Engines) and Drive Discs directly affect your character’s combat performance. Equip them with optimal gear that boosts relevant stats.
    • For DPS characters, equip weapons that increase attack power, critical hit rate, or elemental damage.
    • For support characters, select gear that boosts energy regeneration, buff duration, or team-wide effects.
  • Enhance these items as much as possible using available materials to raise their effectiveness.

3. Upgrade Skills and Talents

Every character has specific skills and talents that can be upgraded to boost their overall performance. Focus on:

  • Upgrading active abilities that scale with attack power or critical damage.
  • Enhancing passive talents that improve stats like health, defense, or energy regeneration, depending on the character’s role.

4. Synergy with Team Composition

  • Optimize your character’s stats based on the synergy within your team. Certain characters benefit more when paired with specific others due to elemental resonance (e.g., Fire and Ice characters together for better team buffs).
  • Ensure your team’s overall balance between DPS, defense, and support roles, as well as the correct elemental balance to maximize stat bonuses from synergies.

5. Focus on Elemental Affinity

  • Elemental damage is crucial in Zenless Zone Zero. If your character has an elemental affinity (e.g., Fire, Ice, Electro), make sure to equip gear and upgrade stats that enhance elemental damage.
  • Exploit elemental weaknesses by pairing characters with different elemental types to create powerful attack combinations, exploiting critical weaknesses in enemy defenses.

6. Optimize CRIT Rate and CRIT Damage

Critical hits significantly boost your damage output. Here’s how to optimize CRIT stats:

  • CRIT Rate: Aim for a balance of CRIT Rate to ensure that your character lands frequent critical hits. Ideal CRIT Rate is around 50% for optimal consistency.
  • CRIT Damage: Focus on increasing CRIT DMG for when those critical hits land. CRIT DMG modifiers will multiply the damage output of each successful critical hit.

7. Energy Regeneration and Usage

  • Efficient energy usage is essential for unlocking your character’s ultimate abilities (EX Special Attacks). Equip characters with Energy Regeneration stats to recover energy faster, allowing you to use special abilities more frequently.
  • Alternatively, focus on Energy cost reduction to lower the amount of energy needed to unleash ultimate moves, making your character’s powerful abilities more accessible.

8. Enhance via Promotion Materials

  • Promotion Materials play a crucial role in boosting your character’s stats and unlocking new abilities. These materials are usually acquired through battles or events. Promote characters to higher levels to unlock increased base stats and new skill enhancements.
  • Focus on ascension or promotion upgrades when available to significantly boost health, damage output, and overall survivability.

9. Customize Drive Discs

  • Equip the right Drive Discs (artifacts) to further optimize your character’s stats. These discs can boost defense, attack power, elemental damage, or cooldown reductions depending on your character’s strengths.
  • Look for disc sets that improve your character’s weaknesses or enhance their strengths. For example, a Polar Metal set could enhance Ice damage, or a Soul Rock set might be ideal for boosting energy regeneration.

10. Make Use of Stat Buffs and Debuffs

  • Buffs and debuffs can heavily influence combat. Focus on:
    • Using buffing characters that improve attack or defense.
    • Debuffing enemies to reduce their defense or inflict status effects such as Burn or Freeze to reduce their damage resistance and increase your team’s effectiveness.

11. Experiment with Combat Positioning

  • Certain stats are optimized based on your positioning during combat. Dodge counters or position-based attacks can amplify damage if used correctly. Try to place your characters in positions where they can maximize their damage output while avoiding taking damage.

12. Use Potions and Buffs Before Battle

  • Consumable items such as potions or buffs should be used strategically to boost stats before entering tougher battles. These can provide temporary boosts to attack power, defense, and elemental damage, allowing for higher damage output or better survivability in difficult fights.

What are the Zenless Zone Zero tier characters in 2025?

“This Zenless Zone Zero tier list ranks characters based on their performance in endgame content, specifically Shiyu Defense. Rankings for S and A-Rank Agents are currently based on Mindscape 0 performance due to the game’s recent release.”

Zenless Zone Zero 2025 Best Characters & Codes – Ultimate Guide

ZZZ Tier List Ranking Criteria

When evaluating characters in Zenless Zone Zero, it’s crucial to understand how each one is ranked. While all characters are placed on the same tier list, they specialize in different roles, making direct comparisons across specialties inaccurate. For instance, an SSS-tier Stun character will not necessarily deal the same amount of damage as an SSS-tier Attack character.

Ranking Criteria

Characters are ranked based on their Mindscape 0 performance, with early Mindscape improvements noted where relevant. The following conditions apply to all rankings:

  • Characters are assumed to be at Level 60/60, with Level 11/12 skills and all Core Skill Enhancements unlocked.
  • They have access to all Phase 5 A and B-Rank W-Engines, as well as Phase 1 W-Engines from the Stable Channel Gacha pool.
  • Each character is equipped with their optimal Drive Disc set bonuses and best main stats, as outlined in their respective guides.

Character Specialties

Each character excels in a specific specialty, guiding players in team composition. Rankings are based on how well a character fulfills their specialty’s role, along with any additional contributions—such as a Stun character providing buffs or a Support character offering extra damage potential.

IconRoleDescription
[Attack Icon]AttackExcels at dealing large amounts of damage directly through their attacks to defeat enemies.
[Stun Icon]StunSpecializes in building up Daze to stun enemies, creating opportunities for teammates to deal damage

ZZZ Tier List: Best Characters

Here are the current character rankings as of Patch 1.0. The rankings are based on vertical placement, meaning that characters within the same tier are not ranked horizontally.

Many characters perform exceptionally well, with a significant number of A-Rank characters being available for free. Even those rated lower in comparison to others can still clear most of the game’s content with sufficient investment.

Please note that as new characters are released, the rankings may change, so make sure to check back for updates.

Zenless Zone Zero all tier list

Zenless Zone Zero 2025 Best Characters & Codes – Ultimate Guide

S-Tier

Astra Yao – The Ultimate Healer and Support

Zenless Zone Zero 2025 Best Characters & Codes – Ultimate Guide

Astra Yao is the premier healer in Zenless Zone Zero, making her an invaluable support character for almost any team composition. With her unique Idyllic Cadenza state, Astra can stay on the battlefield while seamlessly swapping between agents, granting team-wide buffs to regular and critical damage. In this state, she is invulnerable to harm unless she’s the active agent. Her ultimate ability offers a burst of health to all squad members, followed by chain attacks that bypass the daze gauge.

Astra’s versatility shines through her support abilities, but her immobility when using her core skills means she thrives best with synergistic teammates. Pair her with units like Miyabi, Yanagi, Jane, or Burnice for optimal results. While Astra can contribute to damage with her Ether-based Tremolo attack, her strength lies in providing buffs and healing.

Burnice – The Perfect Off-Field Damage Support

Zenless Zone Zero 2025 Best Characters & Codes – Ultimate Guide

Burnice excels at building up anomaly damage and supporting main DPS characters. As a sub-DPS unit, she shines in her Nitro-Fuel Cocktail State, inflicting the Scorch status effect that allows teammates to deal additional Afterburn damage. Burnice’s EX ability unleashes a fiery AoE attack that rapidly builds heat and has a high chance of triggering Burn. Additionally, her quick-use skills provide excellent mobility, allowing her to stay safe while contributing to the team.

Burnice’s effectiveness hinges on her ability to generate and maintain heat. She pairs exceptionally well with characters like Jane Doe, who benefits from the additional burn damage. Burnice is ideal for any Burn, Disorder, or Anomaly-based team composition.

Caesar – A Robust Physical Support with Strong Buffs

Caesar is a standout Physical Support character known for her defensive buffs and utility. Her Radiant Aegis shield grants all allies an additional health shield, scaling with her Impact stat, along with a boost to attack and anti-interrupt capabilities. Caesar’s Battle Spirit ability applies a damage increase debuff to enemies when she performs a perfect block or defensive assist, ensuring her buffs are continuously effective.

Aside from her support role, Caesar can also hold her own in combat, using her EX ability to parry enemy attacks and unleash a follow-up strike. While her defensive style may slow things down, pairing Caesar with an aggressive DPS unit like Jane Doe or Soldier 11 ensures her defensive strengths empower offensive gameplay.

Evelyn – Master of Burning Tethers and High Crit Rate

Evelyn’s playstyle is simple to grasp but difficult to master. She excels in stacking Burning Embers through basic attacks, which she can then consume to enhance her attacks and generate Burning Tethers. When three Tethers are accumulated, Evelyn can unleash a devastating chain attack that bypasses stun windows, dealing massive damage. Evelyn’s passive boosts her crit rate when Binding Seal is active, while her additional ability further amplifies her damage when her crit rate exceeds 80%.

Evelyn works best when paired with high-synergy characters like Astra Yao and Lighter. Although she requires a bit more investment to reach her full potential, Evelyn’s high skill ceiling makes her a strong choice for players willing to put in the effort.

Jane Doe – High Mobility and Deadly Anomaly Damage

Jane Doe is a versatile Physical Anomaly unit known for her fast-paced gameplay and devastating damage output. Her double-dodge mechanic allows her to build her Passion Stream, a state that significantly enhances her damage. Jane’s Salchow Jump attack provides both mobility and damage reduction, allowing her to deal critical strikes with Assault.

Her reliance on Passion Stream makes on-field time crucial for her to reach her peak performance. While Jane pairs well with characters like Seth for additional synergy, she truly excels with premium units such as Grace, Qingyi, and Rina. Due to her high dependency on specific teammates, Jane is a bit less friendly for free-to-play players, but her potential for high damage makes her a top-tier pick.

Miyabi – Burst DPS with Frost Element Mastery

Miyabi is an incredible burst damage dealer who dominates the competition in terms of sheer output. She is the first Frost attribute character in Zenless Zone Zero, making her invaluable for mono-Ice teams. Miyabi excels in applying Frost buildup to inflict powerful effects like Frostbite, Freeze, and Shatter. Her unique Icefire passive helps ramp up her damage, and her attack rotations allow her to deal massive burst damage if used optimally.

While Miyabi can reach staggering damage numbers, her reliance on anomaly buildup and crit rate requires careful investment. She is complex to play due to her lengthy animations and intricate combos. If you’re willing to put in the effort, Miyabi is a powerhouse that can completely disrupt the meta with her burst potential.

Lighter – The Support Master for Fire and Ice Compositions

Lighter is primarily a Stun unit, but his support capabilities, especially in Fire and Ice team comps, make him an invaluable asset. His straightforward playstyle is easy to grasp, featuring a powerful five-hit combo in his basic attack that can be performed by simply holding or mashing left-click. The real highlight of Lighter’s kit is his Morale Burst State, which lets him stack Elation to provide team-wide buffs and inflict a burst of Daze with empowered attack combos. Lighter passively gains Morale over time or whenever teammates use energy, so triggering his Morale Burst is a matter of time.

However, his buffs are limited to Fire and Ice damage, meaning units that rely on Physical or Electric damage will not benefit from his full potential. Additionally, his Combat Impact stat significantly influences the strength of his buffs, so to maximize his support capabilities, you’ll need to heavily invest in his Combat Impact. Despite these limitations, Lighter is a must-pull unit for those running Fire and Ice teams. His ability to extend Stun duration by an additional three seconds makes him the first character in Zenless Zone Zero to do so, further solidifying his role as an essential support character.

Qingyi – The Electric Stun Specialist

Qingyi has rightfully earned her spot among the top-tier characters in Zenless Zone Zero. As an Electric Stun unit, she excels at controlling the battlefield with her powerful three-section staff, capable of chaining long combos and delivering devastating finishers. Qingyi builds up Subjugation Stacks by dodging attacks and executing finishers, and these stacks contribute to her Stun Multiplier, which can surpass even Lycaon’s. This makes her one of the best at locking down enemies for prolonged periods.

Another core part of Qingyi’s toolkit is her Flash Connect Voltage, which charges every time she deals Electric damage. Once she reaches 75% charge, Qingyi enters the Flash Connect State, empowering her basic attack with Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, unleashing massive damage. To maximize her damage output, you’ll need to keep Qingyi on the field for extended periods. Fortunately, her additional ability has modest requirements, and she fits well into most team compositions. Just ensure she’s paired with characters that won’t overshadow her on-field time, allowing her to shine as the primary damage dealer.

Yanagi – Anomaly DPS for High Damage and Speed

Yanagi is an Anomaly DPS unit built for those who want to deal massive damage without waiting around for Anomaly buildup. Her Polarity Disorder effect, triggered by her EX Special and Ultimate, is the core of her power. This effect activates an additional Disorder with a substantial damage multiplier and doesn’t remove the Anomaly, which allows other units like Rina and Burnice to continue adding to the Anomaly buildup and trigger even more Disorder.

Yanagi’s playstyle revolves around her stance-based moveset, which makes her one of the more complex units on the roster. While both stances offer similar damage output, they provide different buffs that require frequent stance switching to maintain optimal performance. Yanagi’s attack chains also demand precision—button-mashing might work for basic content, but to truly unlock her damage potential in high-level challenges, you’ll need to master her attack rotations. Additionally, her Shinrabanshou State punishes excessive dodging, as it resets her attack chain and undercuts her damage output.

In conclusion, Yanagi is a top-tier Anomaly DPS who demands a high level of skill and careful min-maxing to reach her full potential. If you’re up for the challenge, she can be a powerful force on the battlefield.

A-Tier

Ellen – The Ice Shredder

Ellen was the standout S-Rank character at launch, and it’s no surprise that she remains one of the highest-ranking characters on the ZZZ tier list. Her high crit rate and damage output allow her to slice through enemies with a barrage of multi-hit slashes from her basic and dodge attacks. As an Ice character, Ellen can also inflict Freeze and Shatter effects, incapacitating enemies and setting them up for further attacks. Her Roaming State grants her exceptional speed, allowing her to effortlessly dodge incoming attacks while controlling the battlefield.

Ellen builds up Flash Freeze charges, which enable her to deal massive Ice damage when used. To maximize her damage potential, it’s crucial to expend a full stack as soon as possible. However, her enhanced basic attack requires a brief pause to charge, so careful positioning is essential to avoid taking damage. Ellen is a fantastic character, but she requires more than just button-mashing to truly shine. Check out the best Zenless Zone Zero Ellen build to get the most out of her power.

Lucy – The Explosive Attacker and Support

Lucy is a perfect blend of offense and support, with her Physical/Fire kit making her an excellent choice for teams needing help with Fire anomaly buildup or Daze application. Her core passive lets her summon Guard Boars whenever she uses her special attack. While small, these boars are strong fighters and can be sacrificed to deal a burst of Fire damage to enemies. The boars inherit Lucy’s ATK and Impact stats, so investing in the right Drive Discs will make them even more effective.

In addition to her explosive damage potential, Lucy offers solid team support. Her core passive grants ATK buffs to allies, Bangboo, and Guard Boars with every use of her EX special, while her ultimate provides energy regeneration to teammates. Although Lucy doesn’t regenerate energy for herself, pairing her with Daze applicators like Lycaon can help trigger chain attacks, allowing Lucy to reach her energy thresholds. While she may not be ideal as a frontline unit, Lucy’s support both on and off the battlefield is unparalleled.

Lycaon – The Sturdy Daze Specialist

Lycaon boasts one of the highest HP stats in the game, making him incredibly durable, though not quite on the same level as Ben. He’s also equipped with an impressive Impact stat, which makes him a powerful Daze applicator—perfect for teams that rely on Stun characters.

As a close-range melee fighter, Lycaon can dash between enemies, though positioning is key, especially when executing his ultimate. His basic attacks can be charged with a brief pause, and his special attack can be extended by holding the corresponding input. This simplicity in his kit allows for quick and easy chain attacks, making him very easy to use effectively. Check out the best Zenless Zone Zero Lycaon build to make the most of this powerhouse.

Nicole – The Ether Control Specialist

Nicole may not be the top damage dealer, but her unique ability to displace enemies with her black hole makes her a valuable asset. Enemies trapped within her energy field are vulnerable to AoE attacks and take continuous damage throughout the duration of their confinement. Additionally, Nicole can ignore the DEF stat of her enemies, further enhancing her damage output. However, her relatively low DEF and HP make her a glass cannon, so it’s best not to leave her exposed on the battlefield for too long.

Nicole is one of the few characters in the game with the Ether attribute, which gives her unique synergy with Zhu Yuan, allowing her to drive Corruption and Disorder on enemies. Pairing her with Devilboo can further enhance this synergy. As more Ether characters are introduced, Nicole’s team comp viability is likely to expand, though she may eventually be outclassed by new Ether units.

Rina – The Long-Range Specialist

Unlike most ZZZ characters who need to engage in close combat, Rina excels at dealing damage from a distance with the help of her Bangboo companions. She’s highly mobile and can reposition easily, making her effective at keeping enemies at bay. With her Electric and Strike damage, Rina is especially effective against mechanical enemies, and the PEN ratio buff in her core skill ensures she’s a great choice for taking on armored Ethereals.

Rina’s moveset is versatile, offering both AoE and single-target attacks through her Bangboo allies. However, her attacks tend to be a bit slow, and she faces stiff competition from other powerful Electric units introduced since her launch. Still, the best Zenless Zone Zero Rina build can help this skilled housemaid rise to the occasion.

Seth – The Electro/Defense Support

Seth is an Electro/Defense unit who provides excellent support for Anomaly characters. His unique ability to build Resolve through chain attacks and EX specials allows him to deal burst damage and trigger quick assists. What sets Seth apart from other assist characters is that he chains into the previous teammate in the lineup, applying an Anomaly proficiency bonus and providing a supplementary shield. This makes him a great pick for supporting Anomaly DPS characters like Jane Doe.

While Seth’s shield abilities can be lifesaving in difficult challenges like Hollow Zero and Shiyu Defense, he’s not the fastest unit. His EX special has a long animation time, leaving him vulnerable to interrupts, which can be frustrating given how important it is for building Resolve. However, Seth doesn’t need to be on the field for long and works best as a support unit, with his Anomaly buildup resistance debuff being an excellent bonus for your team’s Anomaly specialists.

Soukaku – The AoE Ice Specialist

Soukaku is best known for her Fly the Flag ability, which relies on stacking Vortex through her special, chain, or ultimate attacks. With three stacks, Soukaku enters the Frosted Banner state, allowing her to deal Ice damage with a flurry of basic attacks. Although her damage output is somewhat lackluster on its own, her ability to inflict Ice damage through multiple sources makes her a great AoE character when paired with strong Ice or Impact characters like Lycaon or Ellen.

While Soukaku doesn’t necessarily top the damage charts, her unique playstyle and synergy with other characters make her a valuable asset in team compositions. If you’re looking for an AoE unit that can support an Ice or high-Impact team, Soukaku is an excellent choice.

Zhu Yuan – The Agile Versatile DPS

Zhu Yuan is a versatile DPS unit who can switch between close-range melee attacks and a powerful ranged burst. This makes her incredibly adaptable, capable of handling most combat situations with ease. Her EX special grants her Enhanced Shotshell charges, which she can use to unleash devastating Ether damage until all charges are spent. Zhu Yuan is also highly agile, using her dash attack built into her basic attack to quickly reposition herself during battle.

As the second Ether character on the roster, Zhu Yuan’s versatility in team compositions is somewhat limited. However, as more Ether and N.E.P.S faction characters are introduced, she’s likely to become even more powerful. Zhu Yuan’s synergy with Nicole allows her to inflict Corruption and manipulate enemy behavior, giving her unprecedented control over the battlefield. Check out the best Zenless Zone Zero Zhu Yuan build to maximize her potential.

B-Tier

Anby – The F2P Daze Specialist

Anby may be the “starter” character in Zenless Zone Zero, but don’t underestimate her. With an Impact stat equal to that of Lycaon, she is a solid choice for Daze application, especially in free-to-play (F2P) teams. She works well alongside other Electric and Slash characters, thanks to her talents and additional abilities that grant energy regeneration and attack bonuses based on her allies.

Anby’s kit is beginner-friendly and revolves heavily around her basic attack. To maximize her damage output, hold down her basic attack at the third hit to trigger Thunderbolt, which provides bonus Daze and sets up a smooth chain into her special attack. If you’re still getting the hang of ZZZ’s fast-paced combat, Anby can guide you to victory. Check out the best Zenless Zone Zero Anby build for some spark and inspiration.

Grace – The Long-Range Pierce Specialist

Grace has earned a fan following, though her presence in the meta has waned recently. However, for those in need of a long-range Pierce unit that outshines Billy, Grace remains an excellent option. She attacks at medium range, using grenades to deal AoE damage to enemies in her line of sight. Many of her attack animations incorporate leaps and somersaults, giving her room to create space between herself and enemies.

Her unique gimmick involves building stacks of Zap that grant an Electric anomaly buildup buff when she unleashes her special. While this requires some awareness to optimize, it’s worth the effort. The Electric grenades leave enemies vulnerable to Shock, which immobilizes them, especially when paired with other Electric units. A well-built Zenless Zone Zero Grace can unleash the full power of her Electric abilities.

Harumasa – The Agile AoE Melee Fighter

While Harumasa may not be the strongest S-Rank character, his role in the game is still valuable. Given that he was provided for free in 1.4, we can’t complain too much about his performance. Harumasa may not have the raw power of other S-Ranks, but his AoE capabilities, mainly through quivers, are a strong asset. He can deploy these via basic and chain attacks, and his dash attack inflicts Electro-charged melee damage on marked targets.

He’s an agile character with solid F2P potential, but his Overclock passive requires a strong Stun support to maximize its uptime. Without it, you miss out on the 40% damage buff and bonus Electro Prison stacks. Harumasa also thrives in a mono-Electric team that can trigger Shock, which grants him additional quivers. Master his rotation, and Harumasa can dish out impressive damage as a reliable DPS unit.

Koleda – The Fire Tank and Daze Specialist

Koleda is a powerful mix of tank and Daze applicator, making her perfect for teams that rely on chain attacks. Armed with a massive hammer, she excels at close-range combat, dealing devastating single-target and AoE damage. Her EX Special, chain, and ultimate abilities grant her the Furnace Fire effect, which enhances her Fire-based basic attacks and applies Damage over Time (DoT) via Burn.

Koleda has strong synergy with Ben, granting him damage and Daze buffs when both are on the same team. However, much like Billy, Koleda can be outperformed by other characters in her role. Her unique value lies in her ability to fill a Stun role in a mono-Fire team, though she might fall off a bit as the roster expands.

Piper – The Physical AoE Support

Piper is a solid Physical AoE unit with great support potential for high-Impact characters like Anby, Koleda, and Lycaon. Her special attacks, particularly her EX special and ultimate, stack Power, which boosts her Physical anomaly buildup rate, eventually inflicting Assault and making her enemies vulnerable to Daze. Her Tire Spin special is a close-range spinning slash with wide AoE that can hit multiple enemies, complete with anti-interrupt and damage reduction to help her ignore interruptions.

Although she may struggle against larger enemies, who are less likely to be affected by her anti-interrupt effects, Piper’s high health pool allows her to tank a few hits. She can quickly cancel her spinning animation into a dodge counter, leaving enemies open for a Power Draft downward smash. With high anomaly proficiency, she can increase attribute anomaly damage, making her a solid pairing with Physical units like Jane Doe and Nekomata.

Soldier 11 – The Robust Fire Damage Dealer

Soldier 11 is a well-rounded unit who can serve as both a great damage dealer and a pseudo-tank against heavy-hitting enemies. With her high health pool, she can absorb hits and function as a secondary defensive unit. Her chain attack deals a burst of Fire damage to all enemies in range, and she is an excellent Burn applicator with a high base ATK and crit rate.

To maximize her damage, you’ll need to master her Fire Suppression ability, which grants her a damage buff if used correctly. Neglecting it means missing out on this critical bonus, so timing is key. Soldier 11 excels at shredding single targets, making her an excellent choice for those looking for a front-line Fire unit. However, don’t expect her to excel as a Daze applicator, as that’s not her main strength.

C-Tier

Anton – The Energy-Dependent Chain Attacker

Anton is a great choice if you need a close-range AoE chain attacker. His special attack allows him to effectively pin down clustered enemies, and his high anti-interrupt ensures you can follow up with multiple basic attacks. However, for maximum impact, it’s best to wait for his EX special, which triggers Burst Mode, unleashing a continuous burst of Electric damage at the cost of his energy.

While Anton has a decent health pool, it’s not recommended to leave him on the field for too long. He works best in the second or third position of your team, allowing you to chain into his EX special. That said, Anton is heavily reliant on energy, making him a bit difficult to manage in longer fights or against stronger enemies. Pairing him with another Electric unit, such as Grace or Qingyi, for consistent Shock application can help mitigate his energy consumption, but this limits his versatility in team comps.

Nekomata – The Fast DPS Specialist

If you’re all about high damage per second (DPS) without needing to focus on specific attributes or PEN ratios, Nekomata is the character for you. This agile feline boasts a high base ATK, making her excellent at tearing through enemy waves. Her crit rate and damage buffs make her even deadlier. On top of that, Nekomata’s speed allows her to stack damage bonuses with each dodge counter and quick assist.

However, her kit requires a reactive player with strong field awareness. She can easily get swarmed if you’re not careful. Nekomata works well in a Physical team, where she can bounce between allies to trigger Assault and deal burst damage. But without enough Daze application, she may hit a ceiling in terms of damage output. Check out the best Zenless Zone Zero Nekomata build for more details on how to maximize her potential.

D-Tier

Ben – The Tank With Slow Movement

Ben is a prime example of how size can be both a blessing and a curse. With the highest DEF stat in the game, Ben is a fantastic tank, especially in teams that rely on glass cannon characters. If you equip him with the right Zenless Zone Zero weapons, you can convert some of his DEF into raw damage. However, his slow movement requires high-speed teammates with strong chain attacks to avoid stalling in combat.

Ben excels at shielding, capable of stopping powerful boss attacks with ease. He’s also a great option for tough content like the Infinite Abyss or Hollow Zero. But in a combat system focused on offense, Ben’s slow pace and lack of offensive versatility keep him from topping the tier list. With the right Zenless Zone Zero Ben build, however, he can hold his own and protect your team.

Billy – The Versatile AoE Damage Dealer

Billy is a starter character, like Anby and Nicole, known for his versatility and ease of use. Armed with twin revolvers, Billy is a reliable long-range AoE damage dealer. His ultimate boosts Anomaly Buildup by 10%, complementing elemental attributes and expanding his usefulness in team compositions. His chain attack deals damage to multiple enemies in a wide area, making him great for clearing crowds.

Despite his strength, Billy is quite fragile, with low HP and DEF, which makes him vulnerable when left exposed. His damage output is overshadowed by higher-tier characters, many of whom can fulfill his role as an AoE, long-range, or Physical unit. Though not a top-tier choice, Billy remains a solid option for beginner players. The best Zenless Zone Zero Billy build can keep the bullets flying and ensure he performs well in battle.

Corin – The Fragile Close-Range Fighter

Corin is a close-range fighter with a focus on dealing damage to enemies directly ahead, and she also has some AoE capabilities. Her high crit rate and abilities that provide anti-interrupt and temporary invulnerability give her an edge in battle. However, Corin is very fragile, so it’s important not to leave her in the fray for too long.

Her ability to deal continuous Physical damage makes her effective at triggering the Assault debuff, especially once she pins down an enemy. However, her single-target attacks leave her vulnerable in crowd control situations, forcing you to switch characters frequently. While Corin can work well in a mono-Physical team, her lack of versatility and fragility make her less competitive compared to other units. As more Physical units are added to the roster, her value may diminish.
